so ive been here about 2 weeks? and the honeymoon phase may just about be waring off...or maybe its just the tsunami phase setting in....idk noone even told me anything about a tsunami! regardless with the raining pouring down on the no longer so golden coast i am being to compile a list of things i may actually misss:
1. an umbrella that functions more than holding a book over my head- should have just gonewith the book...seing as this leaky shower cost me $15 [good thing rachel's actually works and cost her only $8! yes- she grabbed the last one. i love her]
2. birds that migrate south for the winter. the lack of birds in the midwest really is an overrated novelty for my sleephabits. ppeeeekaaawww
3. a grocery with food i actually like inside of it [i.e. veggies that are not the size of my head, no bagels?!, all cheese is named 'tasty'??, etc. good thing they had plenty of soup still to get me through...as if it isnt a million degrees here]
4. an oven
5. a toaster....ok i caved on that one sorry
6. a dishwasher, or atleast my little scrubby brush. so great.
7. would actual counter space be too much to ask for?!!?
8. ice coffee. im thinking this is someting I will learn to figure out but for now all I keep ending up with is a frappaccino?
9. the second strap on my backpack. need to find a way to get that fixed
10. and of course my devoted blog followers
now yes I realize most of these things are somehow kitchen related. who knew I loved my kitchen so much?? but NO WORRIES there are way more things I am learning to love here. such as:
1. kabbobs. i try to eat one about once a day. every day we go to surfers we try a new place. the goal is to find our favorite and then become regulars. we aren't ready to settle down yet but the guy at ali baba's kabbabs does smile at me every time we walk by.
2. surfer's paradise. just about everything about it....minus the walk I have to take to the bus stop to get there but I may even love the bus. such an easy system. we may even go before class tomorrow[if its not raining!!]! there is just everything there you can ever want. an indoor mall, endless shops [i actutally like shopping now? this may get dangerous?] and food outside, arcades, bowling alleys, clubs, hotels...literally everything [well, everything except a northface store for me to get my backpack fixed in of course!]
3. the library. im not sure why? maybe because i actually figured out how to use the computers/printers there...something I have yet to figure out in my 3 years at madison.
4. the baskets they use at stores that have wheels and a pull out handle so you can drag it around the store like carry-on luggage.
5. my sleep sack. i have yet to go under the covers here. i don't think theyre dirty but my bed feels like paper and my sleep sack feels like silk.
6. brita water bottle. genius invention and my solution to my lack of filtered water.
7. budgie smugglers- look it up
8. how nice everyone is! who would ever think i would actually enjoy asking random strangers questions everywhere i go, just because i know they will actually help me out? or maybe i just love their accent??
9. the fact that it is march and i have yet to start class?!
...that fantasy ends at 2pm tomorrow [or today?] but it was well enjoyed while it lasted and it will definately continue to be enjoyed as we are finally starting to plan our trips...but first things first...time to buy a notebook.
Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea
